In October we think pink – Breast Cancer Prevention

Pink October is a movement created to raise awareness about breast cancer, and aims to promote early diagnosis in order to increase the chances of a cure and forms of prevention and treatment. Our mission goes beyond offering cosmetic products, for us health and well-being are fundamental for everyone.

Breast cancer is the most common type among women around the world, and early detection increases the chances of a cure. It is essential to pass on information so that exams are carried out regularly and to follow the healthiest lifestyle possible:

1. Regular self-examination
Breast self-examination should be done monthly, a few days after the menstrual cycle. It's a time to get to know your body and notice possible changes, such as nodules, swelling or changes in skin texture. Although self-examination does not replace a mammogram, it can help to detect changes early that should be evaluated by a professional.

2. Mammogram and Regular Consultations
Mammography is the most effective test for the early detection of breast cancer. It is recommended to take the exam regularly, as prescribed by your doctor.

🌸 Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle 

Studies show that certain lifestyle factors can reduce the risk of developing breast cancer:

  • Diet: Diets rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins are associated with a lower risk of cancer. Processed and high-fat foods should be avoided.
  • Physical activity: Regular exercise helps maintain weight and reduce the risk of several types of cancer, including breast cancer.
  • Weight control: Excess body fat can increase estrogen levels, which is linked to an increased risk of breast cancer.
  • Avoid excessive alcohol consumption: Alcohol can increase the risk of cancer. Reducing or avoiding its consumption is a good prevention measure.

Treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy can leave the skin sensitive and dehydratd. Here are some care suggestions:

  • Sun protection: The skin is more vulnerable to the sun during treatment. Use sunscreen with a high SPF and AVOID prolonged exposure to the sun.
