What is it and when did it start?
Today, the Movember Foundation supports projects in various parts of the world, helping to fund research, support programs and prevention initiatives focused on men's health.
The main focus is the prevention and early diagnosis of prostate cancer that affects men around the world, the most common type of cancer among men, especially in the age group over 50:
It is important to carry out periodic exams and see a doctor regularly for early detection, thus increasing the chances of recovery.
The month of November becomes a movement spread across several countries with millions of participants that aims to increase awareness about health issues that affect men's lives, breaking stigmas and encouraging them to take better care of their physical and mental health.
How can i Join?
You can join this movement in several ways, regardless of whether you have the famous mustache or not! The main objective is to raise awareness about men's health as many people as possible. Discover some ways you can participate and help:
Let Your Mustache Grow
Traditionally, Movember encourages men to start November with a clean-shaven face and, throughout the month, grow a mustache. This gesture is symbolic and helps start conversations about the movement, attracting attention to the cause and encouraging more people to participate.
Participate in “Move for Movember”
This challenge encourages physical activity, such as running, walking or cycling, throughout November. The idea is to do 60 km throughout the month in honor of the 60 men who, on average, lose their lives every hour around the world due to health problems that could be prevented if detected early.
Switch to a healthier lifestyle
Another way to help is to create a personal challenge, such as making a change in habit or activity to make your life healthier.
Spread and Educate
Even if it is not possible to actively participate, anyone can help by sharing and encouraging friends and family to join this cause.
At Be and Care we want to be part of this awareness and the necessary support so that everyone feels comfortable taking care of their own health. We remind everyone to join in this wave of prevention and help family and close friends who are currently in a battle.
Our solidarity with everyone who is fighting an illness and may have a quick recovery. 🩵
